Review # 176: Uplifters – Inspirational Stories from the Heart by Debbie Hoffman Nutile

Description:
Uplifters – Inspirational Stories from the Heart by Debbie Hoffman Nutile is a collection of real-life stories about hope, love, faith, and inspiration written by people all over the globe. Each unique story highlights the emotional experiences of its author. Some seek peace, others want answers to difficult questions, and a few aren't exactly sure what they are looking for, but through living and learning they are able to make sense of their circumstances, whether through hard work and/or divine intervention.
Review:

I thought that the title was appropriate - uplifting and inspirational! I love to sit down at night and read about the tribulations and triumphs of the people I share the world with. After hearing about all the sadness in the world via the nightly news, I often wonder where all the upbeat news is. Are people only interested in the depressing, horrible, and gruesome? I do not think so, although that seems to be what sells these days. So when I picked up this book, I knew that I was going to enjoy it; only drawback, I was not a fan of the fonts used in the book, I found it difficult to read at times and would have preferred a less “fancy” script; even the font from the back cover would have read better. However, overall, I found this book to be a worthy escape from daily-life, motivating me to contemplate and strengthen my relationship with God. Each of the twenty-three stories is unedited, left as the storyteller wrote it, which makes this book all the more inspiring. I loved every heartbreaking, breathtaking, and uplifting story I read, but a few of my favorites were: “I Felt the Touch of God”, “Still Some Good In this World”, “The Promissed Story”, and “You Shouldn't Limp for the Lame”. Healing and getting through tragic/stressful times is difficult for everyone, but through Uplifters, readers learn from the experiences of others – their hopes, fears, mistakes, coping mechanisms, etc... Debbie Hoffman Nutile's inspirational compilation is truly uplifting and worth the reflection. Highly recommended to those seeking a raise in their spirits and a warming of their heart.
